At long last Herald.com is requiring users to be logged in to post comments to news articles. Previously, anyone could post a comment anonymously or use a fake or assumed name. Now at least one needs to register with a functional email address. While this won't completely eliminate the hateful and ridiculous comments it should reduce them significantly.
